When should I start new mums yoga?

Anytime from birth, whenever you feel up to it. The class is very gentle and I can adjust any part of it depending on how you are feeling. You will benefit from the breathing and relaxation exercises even if you aren't ready for some of the other exercises.

I've never done any yoga before, does that matter?

Not at all, no previous experience is necessary. Most of my clients are new to yoga and they love it! The best way to find out is to give it a try.

Is the new mums yoga going to help me recover after my baby's birth?

In my Birthlight yoga classes, there is a big focus on helping your body to recover after the birth. We use gentle breathing and yoga movements to help your abdominal and pelvic floor muscles to strengthen and close. You will also benefit from the relaxation time, where you can shut out any stress you are experiencing as a new mother.

Is the new mums yoga suitable if I had a Caesarean birth?

Absolutely! You carried your baby for 9 months which has affected your abdominal muscles, pelvic floor and your posture. This class is suitable for you anytime you feel comfortable attending, I can adjust some of the movements depending on how you are feeling.

What should I wear?

Something comfortable and unrestrictive. Leggings and a tshirt is fine. The main thing is to ensure you are comfortable.

Do I need to bring anything?

I encourage you to bring a pillow or cushion and a blanket so you can make yourself really comfortable during our relaxation. It would be nice to have something for baby to lie on as well.

Why do I need to complete a booking form?

I ask all attendees to complete my booking form to make me aware of any pre-existing health conditions or ailments so that I can tailor any postures to your condition or in extreme cases, advise against practice. It is your responsibility to update me if your health conditions change. If you had complications with your birth that you feel might affect your practice then please let me know.

How often should I practice?

I run weekly classes but to get the most out of your practice, I recommend you also incorporate some yoga at home. This is a great DVD to use in between classes and will build on the knowledge you gain at my class.
